Murri is a reborn of the original restaurant called Murri as well, which was established in 2002 in San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante, Spain). In 2017, the restaurant moved to Alicante city and they needed to develop a new visual communication for the rebranding.
DARKNESS BECOMES A DOMINATING PART OF THE IMAGE
Tenebrism, from Italian "tenebroso" is a style of painting known also as "chiaroscuro", where there are strong contrasts of light and darkness, and where darkness becomes a dominating part of the image. The technique was developed to add dramatism to the image through a spotlight effect that also enhance the illusion of three-dimensionality.
The artist Caravaggio is generally elected as the inventor of the style and his work was the main reference to shoot Murri’s dishes.
THE FEELING OF INTIMACY IS ACHIEVED BY THE LIGHT
Murri talks about privacy, an intimate place where the light is the essence of Murri’s concept. The branding wants to turn that light into the restaurant's color palette, both spatially and graphically create a balance between dark blue light and reddish metals.
