Chapelle Saint-Jacques is a Contemporary Art centre based in Saint Gaudens (France). From N-E we have designed the Journal, a newspaper we develop yearly since 2016 that includes their Art schedule as well as all the different workshops and activities that take place inside or outside the centre.
DECONSTRUCTIVISM AS THE MAIN THOUGHT
A Postmodern Architectural movement characterized by a clear lack of symmetry, harmony and continuity. Buildings give an impression of fragmentation that appear to distort and dislocate the different elements of Architecture, having a final visual appearance of unpredictability and controlled chaos. The major exponents of the Deconstructivism are architects like Frank Gehry, Rem Koolhass or Peter Eisenman.
AN ARCHITECTURAL MOVEMENT TURNED INTO GRAPHICS
Turning Deconstructivism into the aesthetics that composed the Journal, inspiring ourselves by these buildings we have taken the most recognizable details and applied them to different graphic elements.
From the creation of new images, the different grids, the margins, the composition of the text to the alignment of the images themselves give this feeling of controlled chaos that the movement does.
